The majority of the renters and homeowners in the population are between the ages of 18-44 that are just starting out in life, getting married or beginning their families. With a growing community and economy Coralville has a lot to offer and will continue to have a lot to offer years into the future. Many people in the area are putting down roots, they have purchased homes, chosen to raise their kids and enjoy a stable career in Coralville. With the University just minutes away, Coralville is a great place to live while going to school, teaching at the University or just wanting to be close to the Hawkeyes. Coralville History
Coralville was founded in 1873. Its namesake comes from the coral fossils found in the limestone along the Iowa River. The city really began to take off after World War II when many university students took up residence there. Before the war the population was only around 400 people but after the influx on college students the population grew to over 6000 in the 1970s. In 1998 the Coral Ridge Mall was constructed and is home to more than 100 stores. The mall has helped to boost the economy and helped to grow the population. Around 20,000 people call this city home now and that number continues to grow every year.
